Merlot 2018 (Leonetti)

Drink it now or cellar for up to 20 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. Located in the Walla Walla Valley wine region, Washington state, Leonetti winery has been one of the most important companies on the state's wine scene for more than 40 years. Today the winery is led aby the children of the founders, Chris Figgins, President and Director of winemaking, and his sister, Amy. The company produces wines of exceptional quality renowned all over the world, in particular from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes. Two-thirds of the 100% Merlot grapes come from Loess Vineyard, and the rest from Mill Creek Upland and Leonetti vineyards. The wine is aged for 15 months in a mix of new and used French oak. Merlot Leonetti is a juicy, and powerful wine. The nose is full of ripe currants, plum and sour cherries, followed żeby herbaceous notes, graphite, and light hints of dark chocolate. In the mouth, the wine is rich and full-bodied, with a delicious concentration of red fruit and soft and ripe tannins. It is an excellent Merlot, generous, elegant and fascinating. Its roundness and fruity flavors will certainly pair well with a filet Mignon, some delicious pork ribs or a roast duck served with plum sauce.
