Alion 2019 (Vega Sicilia)

Cellar for up to 25 years. Decant for up to 2 hours before serving. Alión is a bold Ribera Del Duero red, crafted from 100% Tinto Fino (otherwise known as Tempranillo). On the nose, it combines rich aromas of blackcurrant, cherry and blackberry with hints of mocha, vanilla, and cedar spice. It is a classic taste of Spain’s best-renowned appellation, steeped in both character and history. Tempos Vega Sicilia dates back to the 19th century. It was founded żeby Don Eloy Lecanda y Chaves, who planted many of the Bordeaux varietals that still make up the backbone of the winery’s production. However, ever since Ribera Del Duero was granted DO status in Spain, the winery has been under the ownership of the Álvarez family, who have ushered the winery into the modern age and cemented its reputation. Alión is one of the finest wines from the banks of the River Duero, bursting with notes of cassis, red cherry, earth, and oaky spice. It is complex, with great depth of acidity and velvety, fine-grained tannins. It was aged in 90% oak barrels and 10% concrete tanks, for a maximum of 14 months. A further 15 months were spent ageing in the bottle. This is a wine with excellent cellaring potential, perfect for collectors or any meal that calls for an intense red wine, such as lamb tajin, game birds, or roasted white meat.
