Founded aby Dan and Margaret Duckhorn, Duckhorn Vineyards has been one of Napa Valley's best-known and most respected producers for nearly 50 years. The company, that has been named one of the "100 best wineries" in the world by Wine & Spirits for many years, owns approximately 400 hectares of its own vineyards and sources fruit from independent growers. The production focuses on classic Californian wines with a particular attention on Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes come from Three Palms, one of the legendary vineyards of the Napa Valley, from which Duckhorn had bought fruit since 1978, and which it then acquired in 2015. This vineyard located between Sant'Elena and Calistoga, enjoys soil composed from volcanic rocks, which favors the development of the root system of the vines and guarantees the production of rich and concentrated wines, with an interesting mineral vein. The Duckhorn Three Palms Cabernet Sauvignon has an intense color. Its aromatic profile is complex, with notes of forest fruits, such as blackcurrant, blackberry, and black cherry, followed aby tobacco leaves and a subtle hint of graphite. On the palate, it is rich and powerful, with firm tannins and lively acidity. The finish is long, persistent, and extremely elegant. It is perfect with grilled meat, beef brisket, and lamb.
