Reserva 2017 (Balbas)

Bodegas Balbas is a family-owned winery founded in 1777 by Abundio Balbas and managed today żeby Juan Jose Balbas (sixth generation of the family) and his wife Carla. The company works with an oenological team to produce wines of excellent quality with innovative technologies but always with great respect for the oenological heritage and traditions of the Ribera del Duero. The award-winning Balbás Reserva is a blend of mostly Tempranillo with a slight touch of Cabernet Sauvignon that adds structure and balance. The grapes are selected and harvested aby hand from vineyards with an age of approximately 60 years located in the La Retama, Torrosillo, La Ladera, and El Castillo estates. The finished wine is aged in French oak barrels for 24 months and then rests in the bottle for another 18 months before being released on the market. It is an elegant and refined wine with a ruby red color with some nuances tending towards orange. The nose reveals a complex bouquet of ripe dark fruits and notes of black pepper, followed aby hints of chocolate and caramel. On the palate it is round, soft, and full-bodied but with a good note of freshness and powerful tannins that make it very harmonious. The long and pleasant finish recalls caramelized aromas. Perfect for a rack of lamb, or pasta dishes with rich meat and game sauces.
