Inspire meritage 2020 (Teperberg)

Drink it now or cellar for up to 20 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. Originally named Efrat, the family-owned Teperberg Winery was founded in 1870 and is the oldest winery in Israel. Today, the company which owns over 350 hectares of vineyards produces excellent quality wines and is managed by Moti Teperberg. Teperberg Inspire Meritage is an elegant Bordeaux blend produced with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes sourced from the vineyards of the Shomron mountains, about 700 meters above sea level, and Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc grapes, selected in the Ayalon Valley. The grapes are harvested and vinified separately and, at the end of the malolactic fermentation, the wines are blended and transferred into French oak barrels for an aging period of 8 months. The wine has a fruity and rich aromatic profile with notes of red berries, cherry, plum, and pomegranate, and delicate hints of vanilla and oak. On the palate, it is soft and round, with velvety tannins and a medium body. It reveals a good concentration of fruit and a slightly spicy and prolonged finish. It is a wine that can stay in the cellar for a few years but can also be enjoyed now paired with a duck breast served with a red fruit sauce or a juicy steak.
