The Piece Shiraz 2019 (Longview)

Cellar for up to 13 years. No need to decant before serving. Around 45 minutes outside of Adelaide is this gorgeous estate set on gentle rolling hills near the majestic Mt Lofty Ranges. The property was actually a working dairy farm for the majority of the 20th century and is now run żeby brothers Mark and Peter Saturno. The two siblings specialise in growing French and Italian grape varieties which are well-suited to the local terroir. Black grape varieties are planted on the warmer north-facing slopes with white grapes planted on cooler southern slopes. Longview’s iconic wine is this magnificent Shiraz which is crafted from the very finest rows of vines with each bunch hand-selected and picked to ensure top quality. The grapes are then fermented as whole bunches in open top fermenters and matured in French oak barrels to add complexity. The result is a very limited quantity of robust, full-bodied Shiraz wines which are bursting with ripe blueberries, damsons and crushed cherries. Their eye catching bottles are adorned with a unique graffiti artwork which changes every vintage, reflecting Longview winery’s long-standing association with street art. Longview even hosts an annual "Piece Project" event where four artists compete to have their work selected for the label of that vintage’s The Piece Shiraz.
