Today the winery owns numerous vineyards in South Australia and purchases grapes from selected growers. The Chardonnay grapes are sourced from vineyards located in the Adelaide Hills. The harvest is manual and the fermentation occurs spontaneously with indigenous yeasts. The wine then matures on its lees to acquire more structure and complexity. Penfolds Reserve Bin A Chardonnay is a straw yellow wine with lemon yellow nuances. On the nose, it reveals a delicious aromatic profile with stone fruits and pear, custard and lemon curd, and a delicate finish of sweet spices and almonds. On the palate, it is soft and generous with a good mineral vein and an invigorating acidity. The finish is long and pleasantly balanced. Pair it with roast chicken and medium-aged cheeses.
